Set back from the beach front in the picturesque village of Abersoch lies the newly renovated St Tudwals Inn.
The Welsh seaside pub closed late last year, ready for a full transformation beginning in early 2025. The three-month long refurbishment began in January following significant investment from Robinsons Brewery, who have strong connections to the village.
The pub reopened early April with a new Welsh operator, Dion Hughes, who has expanded his pub portfolio, following the success of two other Robinsons sites. Dion started his hospitality career as a pot-wash in his local pub, The Goat Inn, where he fell in love with the trade, taking on the tenancy of the same pub years later. Since then, Dion has been making waves as an entrepreneur in the Welsh pub scene.
Being Welsh born and bred, Dion champions a Welsh first approach and ensures that both locals and tourists receive a warm welcome and a great experience across his pubs.
Inside the new-look St Tudwals, the space has been transformed, with lots of internal structures removed to create more open space and a more welcoming experience for customers. The re-design of the space has also created extra space for customers and allowed the space to be more versatile for both drinkers and diners, all year around.
Due to its beach proximity, the design takes influences from the Welsh coastline. You can also expect to see coastal influences across the fabrics, décor and the paintwork – think Hamptons Beach House stripes.
The great thing about the design and layout of this pub is the all-day atmosphere the place offers, where you’ll feel as comfortable post-beach visit as you would visiting for a special occasion. The ambience and lighting has been considered to seamlessly transition from day to night venue; with state-of-the-art speakers installed allowing opportunity for evening entertainment too.
Externally the pub has new external seating areas, perfect for enjoying Abersoch’s very own micro-climate, with the pub also showing off a new eye catching light pink colour.
The Designer who ran the project for Robinsons reflected on the investment saying, “Every penny has been money well spent on this design scheme. We’ve achieved a lot, and the pub really has transformed for the community of Abersoch”.
If you’re thinking of visiting the St Tudwal’s check out their website here where you can find their food menus. The pub operates a first come- first served policy where bookings aren’t accepted – meaning everyone has the opportunity to get involved.
