The Whitchaff serves delicious home-cooked food seven days a week. We try to cater for everybody's needs and offer 4 different menus including gluten free, vegetarian and plant based as well traditional pub classics.
About Us
Once an old coaching house, The Whitchaff can be found close to Rawtenstall and Edenfield. It's a traditional pub, serving delicious pub food. Award-winning cask ales are served with continental lagers, wines and spirits. From the beer garden there's panoramic views of the Rossendale valley.

A little more about us
The stone building dates from 1761, it was once an old coaching house. It’s been a pub for well over 100 years and used to be called the Hare & Hounds; the present unusual name, adopted in the 1970’s, is a combination of the shortened names of two of the owners of the day. Enjoy some delicious pub food and unwind in our picteresque beer garden!

We have a great beer garden here at The Whitchaff, with amazing views of the Rossendale valley. Why not pop down for a drink or some food in the sun? We are dog friendly in our beer garden, but not inside of the pub.

There are plenty of things to do near The Whitchaff, from the East Lancashire Railway, which offers a variety of events throughout the year and is only a brisk walk from the pub if you are making a stop during your journey. For outdoor enthusiasts, there is the Musbury Tor walk which provides a scenic route overlooking Helmshore. There is also Hail Storm Hill, which is the highest point in the Rossendale Valley offering panoramic views of the moorland. Pop in after your walk to warm up with a Robinsons pint and delicious food.
